Relevant, practical, and even humorous describe the ministry of Brian D. Hunter. Affectionately known as a “quiet storm” because of his humble yet undeniable presence, Hunter began his ministry journey at the tender age of 19 years old. Hunter is a third-generation preacher/pastor, God has gifted him with a relevant approach to the Word transforming those who hear him.
Hunter accepted his call to ministry in 1989 at the tender age of 19. Hunter served two years as the president of the California State Baptist Youth Convention, which was one of the largest youth conventions in the state of California. He served five years as the Youth Minister of the Berkeley Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he was also ordained in 1995.
In 1999, Hunter was called to pastor the historic Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in the city of West Oakland, Ca. serving faithfully for 7 fruitful years. In 2007 he was called to the Berkeley Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he currently serves with joy.
Hunter has an inexhaustible thirst for knowledge receiving his Bachelor of Theology degree from Sacramento Bible College and Seminary. He holds a Master of Practical Theology from Winebrenner Theological Seminary and is a Doctoral candidate at Fuller Theological Seminary. Hunter assumed a teaching post at Sacramento Bible College and Seminary – Stockton Extension, where he taught subjects such as Christian Ethics, Homiletics, and Contemporary Apologetics, receiving Teacher of the Year honors four years running.
As a global influencer, Hunter has impacted the masses with his pen and perspective. He is the author of Illustrations That Connect and is the host of the Option B podcast. He has developed curriculum and training material for both the marketplace and the church.
Hunter is a proud native of Long Beach, California. He is the husband of Lori Broom-Hunter, father of four children. Hunter’s goal is to guide the restoration and transformational process by bridging the gap between the person one has become and the person they are created and destined to be through transformational content and coaching.
